“Therefore the LORD longs to be gracious to you, And therefore He waits on high to have compassion on you. For the LORD is a God of justice; How blessed are all those who long for Him”. Isaiah 30:18 The Lord truly longs to be gracious to us. The Apostle Paul explains in Ephesians that behind the redeeming work of Christ’s death, resurrection, and glorification is God’s desire “…that in the ages to come He might show the surpassing riches of His grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus” (Ephesians 2:7). The writer of Hebrews encourages us to draw near directly to God at His throne of grace, where we receive His perfectly timed mercy and help. “Therefore let us draw near with confidence to the throne of grace, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need” (Hebrews 4:16). God not only longs to lavish His grace upon us, but He does so precisely when we need it. In His infinite wisdom and perfect love, He pours out His grace—not before its time, nor after its moment has passed, but exactly when it will have the greatest impact on our hearts. May we grow in our understanding of our God who truly loves us in Christ Jesus and longs to be gracious to us. |
