SUNDAY SCHOOL AT COMMUNITY BAPTIST CHURCH
Sunday School for all ages, children through adults, is at 9:00 a.m. on Sunday morning. The format strongly
encourages training by the parents at home during the week so the children are prepared for their classes on Sunday
morning.
CHILDREN
The preschool/kindergarten class uses materials from Great Commission Publications. The theme for the current lessons
is: "Studying God's Word: God Leads His People." There is also weekly catechism training.
Grades 1-6 are currently using the Covenantal Catechism curriculum by Harry Van Dyken. This material
gives daily readings and scripture memorization showing God's covenantal redemptive revelation to His people.
Grades 1-3: Book Three: I Kings to Malachi
Looking at the Old Testament people and events and their place in God's great redemptive plan.
Grades 4-6: Book One: Genesis to Malachi
July 25: Lesson 9 - Noah's Sons - The Tower of Babel
August 1: Lesson 10 - Abraham - God Makes the Covenant of Grace
YOUTH The junior and senior high youth are doing a study of worldviews and
presuppositional apologetics. During this course, they will be learning how to demonstrate the
self-defeating nature of unbelieving worldviews, while upholding the truthfulness of the Christian faith.
They are also reviewing the Westminster
Shorter Catechism.
July 25: Westminster Shorter Catechism question #61:
Q61: What is forbidden in the Fourth Commandment?
A61: The Fourth Commandment forbiddeth the omission or careless performance of the
duties required, and the profaning the day by idleness, or doing that which is in
itself sinful, or by unnecessary thoughts, words, or works, about our worldly employments
or recreations.
