SUNDAY SCHOOL AT COMMUNITY BAPTIST CHURCH
Sunday School for all ages, children through adults, is at 9:00 a.m. on Sunday morning. The format strongly
encourages training by the parents at home during the week so the children are prepared for their classes on Sunday
morning.
CHILDREN
The preschool/kindergarten class uses materials from Great Commission Publications. The theme for the lessons this winter
is: "Loving Jesus: Loving the Promise of the Savior." There is also weekly catechism training.
Grades 1-4 are currently studying the Gospels, using the Covenantal Catechism curriculum by Harry Van Dyken. This material
gives daily readings and scripture memorization showing God's great work in history through Jesus Christ.

YOUTH The Junior and Senior High class is going
through the Westminster Shorter Catechism. The students are expected to have the answers to the
questions at the end of the chapters in Williamson's study guide written out when they come to class. For family
worship during the week, Starr Meade's family devotional based on the catechism Training Hearts - Teaching Minds
will be used. This book provides readings for each weekday and suggestions for a family time of worship and
devotion.
July 20: Westminster Shorter Catechism questions #107 and Chapter 64 in Williamson's study guide
ADULTS The Adult Sunday school class is studying Covenant Theology, currently using the book,
"God of Promise: Introducing Covenant Theology", by Michael Horton.
What is Covenant Theology? It is the way to properly interpret the Bible, particular passages, individual doctrines and promises.
Why is this important? Because God always relates to man on the basis of a covenant and has revealed His plan of
salvation in covenants. Therefore, a right understanding of covenants is vital to reading God's word correctly and
enjoying the riches of our life in Christ. Plan to part of this class!!
This class is repeated at 5:00 p.m. for those that could not attend at 9:00 a.m.
